INSPIRE ME - Guest Post: Allie Macclintock

I've known Allie for way over a year now and I cannot express enough just how amazing, lovely and beautiful this girl truly is. She's a big big inspiration to many, including myself.

Allie and I met due to us both recovering from eating disorders. Looking back we actually have pretty similar stories, being very similar in the sense of determination and motivation. After being in one of the lowest points in her life, watching Allie grow, transform and recover has been incredibly inspirational & beautiful. She pushed and striven to be the best she can be and it really shows through her words and mindset. Her outlook on food, life, and herself has bloomed into the most balanced and happiest I've seen her. Not only that but she is quite literally glowing and has some killer muscles!

She's a huge inspiration to myself and should be to you. Allie proves that no matter what life throws at you, with enough courage, drive and determination you can really push through it. If you want something enough you'll get it.

Now over to my beautiful Allie...

1. What does being 'healthy' mean to you?
Having balance, both physically and mentally. After a past of a extremely disordered view of what being "healthy" means, I finally feel that I've found what it truly means; following a balanced diet (including 'naughty' foods) and working out because I love my body and want to enjoy what it can do.
2. What inspired you to get into fitness?
I've always been into sport; playing netball and athletics as a child, then I started to watch various youtubers such as Heidi Somers, Emily Duncan, Amanda Bucci etc who inspired me to start looking after my body properly and working out to improve my view of my body. Then I just absolutely fell in love with it!
3. Do you have any advice for anyone wanting to get into fitness?
Join a gym and maybe have a few sessions with a PT or someone who has knowledge of the gym and fitness to help you get to grips with the basics, then just educate yourself with books and YouTube/blogs etc!!
4. What keeps you motivated?
Knowing that I'm bettering myself and improving my physique and overall health! I constantly set myself short term goals so that I have something to strive for!
5. What's your favourite meal of all time?
Oh god this is SO tough!! But probably a Chinese style stir fry with quorn! Either that or poached eggs, smoked salmon and avocado on toast!
6. Who inspires you?
Within fitness: many youtubers and bloggers such as Taylor Chamberlain, Jessica avorelo, Nikki blacketter etc but my biggest inspiration in life is mostly my mum, who inspires me to be the best person I can be.
7. What would you describe as the 'perfect' day?
Waking up around 11am, having brunch in bed with Josh whilst watching Louis Theroux documentaries or Bones, then going for a long brisk walk in the countryside, coming home to a nice bubble bath and finish off with cuddles on the sofa watching a film with hot chocolate and ice cream.

8. What 3 foods/ingredients could you not live without?
Whey protein (especially Quest salted caramel whey!!), mushrooms and soy sauce!! Staples!
9. What things do you like to do to stay active?
I love having long walks, smashing out a good session at the gym, doing some Zumba or yoga and bike rides!
10. What makes you happy?
Spending quality time with my boyfriend, my best friends and family. You can't beat some good human interaction eh!
11. Lastly, what is your favourite quote?
"Believe in yourself and you will be unstoppable"
