'Golden Milk' Power - The Turmeric Latte

Tumeric is my ultimate, superfood ingredient. It's vibrant yellow colour screams goodness along with it's amazing anti-inflammatory and healing properties. I love to use turmeric in anyway I can especially at this time of year (yep I'm currently bunged up with cold!) I'll pop it in soups, stews, curries, roasted veggies, even stirred into oats is amazing! One of my favourite ways to take turmeric is  the new health craze, turmeric latte otherwise known as 'golden milk', if you've never had one of these bad boys then prepared to be amazed. Is it time to swap the morning coffee's for these bright yellow cups of joy?


Turmeric lattes have become one of my favourite drinks morning or night. It's soothing and comforting making you feel good inside and out. It beats the caffeine coffee fix any day (and I love my coffee) This is all birthed from the turmerics nutritional benefits as it's full of nutrients, vitamins and antioxidants. this magical spice is also known to help your brain function, quality of your skin, relieve muscle tiredness and pain, reduce fatigue, fight infection, heart disease and cancer, boost immunity, relieve depression and reduce cholesterol. Really this drink is a superfood powerhouse in a cup. 


 When I tried my first turmeric latte I was slightly sceptical, It's like nothing I've quite tasted before. It's warm, comforting, savoury and sweet all at the same time. Blended with a slight nutty flavour from the almond milk, added sweetness from the maple syrup  and slight spice from the cinnamon. I also love to put in some fresh or ground ginger which is packed with antioxidants and inflammatory properties. It's the perfect drink to boost your system this winter.  

When making your first turmeric latte go easy on the turmeric and build it up (I'm used to it so I plonk a load in, haha) It can be a little harsh and shock at first! But before you know it you'll be addicted and can add more each time!  


Try it in the morning for a good pick me up or right before bed to cuddle down with and bust all the winter sniffles.




- 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
- 1/2 tsp ground turmeric
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp ground ginger
- 1 tsp maple syrup/agave
- Pinch of black pepper



Place all of the following ingredients in a saucepan. Whisk together and heat and a low/medium heat until fully mixed and heated through.
