Strawberry Love Maca Smoothie

So as we know tomorrow is the loved up day that is Valentines day. The day where couples hopelessly express their love for each other (like they couldn't bloody do it any other day) and the singles take a Netflix and chocolate marathon in full swing.

Buuuutttt following up from my 'Chocolate Banana Protein Oats' I'm still in the idea of complete self love. Which is why I am bringing you this super delicious, feel good 'Strawberry Love Maca' smoothie. Hey we all deserve a treat, right? and what is better than a pink one? Or maybe you want to treat your loved one to this love potion pick me up. (Remember to add it to the breakfast in bed fellas!)

Sooooooo... Maca!!!! One of my fave superfooodsss!

Maca is one of my favourite superfood powders, so it only seemed right to treat myself a lil. The Maca plant is grown in the mountains of Peru, called the "Peruvian ginseng", however is usually fund in powder form. It has quite a butterscotch, caramel taste and Maca powder holds a whole variety of benefits. It holds a huge amount of powerful nutrition, being rich in vitamins B, C and E, along with providing calcium, zinc, iron and magnesium.

Maca is known to help fertility and hormones especially in women, it can be used to help PMS and menopause along with helping sexual health. It has been shown to improve depression and anxiety by helping increase serotonin levels (the feel good hormone) Kindaaaa fits Valentines right? Haha.

Maca has also shown to help increase energy, mood and endurance, making it a great alternative to caffeine without getting the 'down fall' or 'jitters'! So it's perfect to add to your smoothies, oats, cereal baking etc.  I often like having it before a workout to give me that extra boost!!

If anything is guaranteed to give you a cheeky, loving boost it's gonna be this smoothie! It's perfectly sweet, indulgent, feel good, creamy with a slight hint of caramely butterscotch floating through from the added Maca powder. It'll make you giddy with joy. In fact you'll more than likely just fall in love with it.

1/2 cup frozen strawberries
1/2 frozen banana
1 cup non - dairy milk
1 tsp Maca powder
1 scoop Vegan protein powder (optional, I would recommend Vanilla or I used VivoLife UK's Salted Maca Caramel)
1 tsp agave/maple syrup (optional)
Handful of ice (if you like a thicker smoothie)

Place all the following ingredients in a highly powdered blender. Blend together until smooth. Serve in your favourite glass and extra strawberries.
