Fuel Your Workout | 'CO CO GO GO' Oats!

It's National Chocolate Day. So I have a treat.

I'm a massive fan of oats, if you didn't know already. I could honestly eat them any time for any meal without question.

I also like chocolate. And peanut butter. But common we all know that by now.

So, what option do we have left ... Combine all three. Mhm.

I have to say this is my current FAVOURITE oats recipe. I make them in a way that makes them so fluffy, healthy but indulgent at the same time. It's perfect before or after I workout and I've been completely loving it! It's a combination of creamy oats, sweet cacao, cinnamon, anti- inflammatory turmeric, a peanut butter drizzle and fresh raspberries. It's gluten & dairy free and it's packed with the perfect balance of good carbohydrates from the oats, healthy fats from the peanut butter and protein from the Chia seeds and Hemp protein.

But that is not all! This recipe has some extra recovery and nutrient boosting specialities. Yup! I've added the 'CoCo GoGo' super food blend by the wonderful company OneEarth Organics  who create a whole variety of delicious and interesting blends to give you various benefits. This one however was made for me when I need that extra workout or energy boost! With a blend of Cacao, Matcha, Baobab and Beetroot, it's packed with plenty of vitamins and minerals such as Vitamin C, Magnesium and Iron, all which will help with the reduction of tiredness and fatigue. Along with being a great fuel or recovery for your aching muscles! Bonus!

I've been loving adding this to a little pre-workout hot chocolate or obvious these oats! Which I must admit are the bomb! They're packed with goodness which will leave you feeling amazing and curb a sweet tooth!

 I urge you try!!!

- 50g Rolled oats (Gluten free if needed)
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup plant based milk (I used unsweetened almond milk)
- 1 tsp cacao powder
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp turmeric
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tsp hemp protein powder or vegan chocolate protein (optional)
- 1 tsp chia seeds
- 1 tsp honey/maple syrup (optional)
- Berries of choice
- Peanut butter (or nut butter of choice)

Place your oats into a sauce pan and cover with the water, allow to sit for 5 minutes. Then pour over your milk and mix together before cooking on a low/medium heat.

Add in your cacao, cinnamon, turmeric, salt and chia seeds. Stir it all together well and allow to cook. Once your oats begin to thicken, remove from the heat and stir in your protein powder (if using), I sometimes like to add a little bit more water here.

Pour your oats into your favourite bowl and top with some fresh berries, I love raspberries and obviously a big old drizzle of peanut butter. I also like a little drizzle of agave or maple syrup. Dig in and enjoy!
