Halloween Treats | Chocolate Caramel Nutty Slice

04:13

Hey lil chickpeas! With Halloween just around the corner I thought it was the appropriate time to supply you with a cheeky treat. Yes yes yes. This is for the chocolate, nut butter lovers! A slightly healthier, delicious, vegan chocolate, caramel slice!

This recipe is inspired clearly by the fact. I love chocolate and I love peanut butter. Duh.

If you like dessert. You're at the right place.

Meaning these lil bites of joy are a winner, winner. A nutty, crumbly base with a sweet, peanut caramel layer finished with a rich, chocolate topping. Could you get anymore indulgent? Trust me they taste far from good for you! Plus require no baking, bonus!

I added some vegan vanilla protein powder to the base for extra flavour and of course a protein boost! I used Missfits Nutrition vanilla which I have to say worked perfectly.  Feel free to use to simple vanilla flavouring if you prefer! I also used crunchy peanut butter for the filling to give some extra textures, but again that is completely optional.

I was pleasantly surprised with just how amazing these lil slices were. They didn't crumble to pieces when I sliced them (thank god), with the perfect 3 layers, before taking and bite... and ...yep... they taste gooooood! Thank god! When takign the first bite they actually remind me of a Twix slash snickers slash millionaires short bread. Like 3 in one? Yup!

Although these lil beauties are made with healthier, natural ingredients they are incredibly moorish making 1 or 2 just enough to satisfy your sweet tooth!

Never the less these chocolate caramel nutty slices are the perfect recipe that anyone can enjoy! I mean if you dare let anyone else try....

Base

1 cup ground almonds
1 sachet of Missfits Nutrition chocolate vegan protein*
4 tbsp maple syrup (or alternative sweetener)
1 tbsp coconut oil melted

Middle layer

1/2 cup crunchy or smooth peanut butter (or nut butter of choice)
3 tbsp maple syrup (or alternative sweetener)
1 tbsp coconut sugar (or extra maple syrup)
1 tbsp coconut oil
1/2 tsp maca powder (optional)

Topping

1/4 cup raw cacao powder
1/4 cup coconut oil melted
3 tbsp maple syrup (or alternative sweetener)

Line a small square baking tray with baking paper and set aside.

Next start making your base by mixing all of the ingredients until fully combined together, it should be a little crumbly. Then with your hands firmly press the crumbly mixture into your lined baking tray.

For the middle layer place your peanut butter, coconut oil, sugar, syrup and maca (if using) into a small saucepan and gently heat until melted together. Spread this over the base layer and place in the freezer while you make the chocolate layer.

To make the top layer, mix the cacao, melted coconut oil and syrup together, until a smooth chocolate has formed. Pour this chocolate over the top of the middle layer and spread over evenly. Place this back in the freezer for 30 - 40 minutes until set. Take out slice into pieces and store in the fridge.
