Salted Maca Caramel Protein Choc Chip Banana Bread

Oh my lil chickpeas! I am back in the kitchen and oh it feels goood! I've been absolutely itching to get some baking done and finally gotten back round to creating some delicious, healthy, vegan recipes for you. 

 I am so grateful to have this recipe in collaboration with the amazing guys from VivolifeUk, using their Vegan Salted Maca Caramel protein which I ADORE. And I have to admit this recipe is a deadly, delicious one. You're gonna love it!

Salted Maca Caramel Vegan Chocolate Chip Banana Bread. Yup, you heard. 

I've tried a few banana bread recipes which have all worked well but this one is my FAVOURITE. It's a real winner. 

I've taken a classic Banana bread with the addition of the Salted Maca Caramel protein from VivolifeUK. Giving it that extra protein boost (a whopping 9g per slice!!!), a twist of sweet caramel flavours and a addition of super food properties from the maca such has increasing energy levels and helping level our hormones!  Not only that but this little gem is healthier than your traditional banana bread, vegan, packed with fibre, refined sugar free and gluten free! Could we get any better?

Oh yeah... It's packed with dark chocolate chips. Life's about balance right? 

It's soft, gooey, sweet, indulgent yet packed with vitamins, minerals and all the good stuff giving you a sweet tooth hit and energy boost all in one. It's the ultimate feel good snack. So damn comforting and perfect for the upcoming Autumn months. AND makes the house smell like happiness and home. I mean doesn't all baking bring a sense of joy? 

I feel like it would be perfect pre or post workout, afternoon 'pick me up' with a cuppa or cheeky after dinner dessert. 

It's perfect warmed up, slathered with peanut butter and some raspberry jam, Vegan nutella or even a scoop of dairy free ice cream! Now we're talking! 

Warning however. It's addictive. And when I mean addictive, I ate the whole loaf in two days. Yup. Oppsie. 


4 over ripe bananas 
1/4 cup melted coconut oil 
1/4 cup maple syrup (honey if not vegan) 
1 flax egg (1 tbsp ground flaxseed, with 3 tbsp water)
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup non-dairy milk 


1 1/2 cups oat flour (gluten free if needed)
3/4 cup ground almonds
1 scoop VivolifeUK Salted Maca Caramel protein
1 tsp baking powder
2 tbsp coconut sugar
Pinch of salt
100g dark chocolate (70%+)
Flaked almonds to top (optional) 

Pre-heat the oven 160c and lightly grease a loaf pan or line with baking paper.

In a large mixing bowl mash your bananas until smooth. then stir in your coconut oil, maple syrup, flax egg and apple cider vinegar. 

Add the oat flour, ground almonds, protein powder, baking powder, coconut sugar & salt. Mix everything together until fully combined. 

Roughly chop your chocolate & stir into the mixture. Then stir in your milk, mix until a smooth batter has formed. 

Pur the batter evenly into your prepared pan and smooth down the top. Sprinkle with a little extra coconut sugar and almonds if using. 

Bake for 50 - 60 minutes or until you can pull a knife out clean.

Take out the oven and leave for 1 -2 hours to fully cool. Slice, spread on some peanut butter and enjoy!
